The Hublot Big Bang Unico Ice Bang Is A Cool Online Exclusive In Ceramic And Tungsten
You might be just a few clicks away from the new Hublot Big Bang Unico Ice Bang. It’s an online exclusive only available through Hublot’s e-commerce boutique, and it’s also a limited edition. Just 100 pieces of this black ceramic watch outfitted with a soberly contrasting bezel in tungsten will be made. If you want something more colorful, there are also the dark green and bright orange Big Bang Unico chronographs. Those are limited to 250 watches each. What all three new timepieces have in common is the HUB1280 Unico 2 chronograph movement inside.
The original Ice Bang from 2006 also came in black and gray, but the 2024 Hublot Big Bang Unico Ice Bang is clearly an evolution of the original. Everything has evolved to a higher level. Over the last 18 years, Hublot has made significant steps in all crucial aspects of high-end watchmaking. The levels of finishing and decoration have gone up, and the movements inside have become more interesting.
Hublot Big Bang Unico Ice Bang on rubber and canvas
The Big Bang Unico Ice Bang (441.CK.1140.NR.HEC24) uses a 100m-water-resistant micro-blasted and polished black ceramic 42 × 14.5mm case as the foundation. On top of the lightweight, hypoallergenic case comes the bezel in satin-finished and polished tungsten. It creates a very technical, almost industrial look with a subtle yet strong contrast.
The open-worked matte black dial reveals the column wheel of the 354-part HUB1280 Unico 2 chronograph caliber inside. You also get a nice view of the caliber through the display case back. This in-house automatic flyback chronograph movement with a 72-hour power reserve also shows the whole calendar disc, with the actual date popping up at 3 o’clock in the minute counter.
The 2024 Ice Bang comes with two interchangeable black straps. There’s one in Velcro mesh with a black ceramic buckle for a rugged look. And if you want it a little smoother, there’s a striated black rubber strap outfitted with a black titanium folding clasp. The price of this online-only Big Bang is €25,000 / US$24,100.
The Big Bang Unico also comes in dark green and bright orange
Two other limited editions with a bit more color on their “cheeks” are the dark green and bright orange executions of the 42 × 14.5mm Big Bang Unico. When you’re in the market for a colored ceramic watch, there is no way of getting around Hublot. The polished dark green and black reference 441.GX.5210.RX is the more understated of the two new models, each of which is a 250-piece LE. Because the ceramic orange case of the reference 441.CU.5910.RX is also polished, this version is very vivid. The black contrasting details are very prominent too. I guess that’s also what you want when you opt for an orange watch, right?
Both Big Bangs are very Hublot in the sense that you get angular lines, an open-worked dial, a rubber strap, and six H-shaped, black-plated titanium screws on the bezel. The movement inside both new colorful watches is the same as in the Big Bang Unico Ice Bang. It’s the HUB1280 Unico 2 chronograph caliber, outfitted with a black-plated rotor made of tungsten. As for prices, the green version comes in at €25,000 / US$24,100. You’ll need to pay more for the orange one, though, since this is Hublot’s newest color of ceramic.
