This week, Fratello On Air returns with an episode about collecting watches and whether we’ll ever stop. It’s a good question that we lightly debate because we feel similarly. The watch world is almost endless, providing us with nearly infinite opportunities to learn and enjoy.

Our watch content starts 15 minutes into the show. Both of your co-hosts enjoy collecting, but will we ever call it quits? We discuss the subject and explore what we might keep amassing. Before we move to our main topic of collecting, we begin our podcast with some discussion about the European Championship. Balazs is heading to the Hungary-versus-Scotland match, and Mike is cheering on England and Slovakia. Troubles with Germany’s transportation system take center stage as Balazs is not looking forward to getting home late this coming Sunday. Balazs leads off the Handgelenkskontrolle with a fantastic new addition, a 1972 Rolex Submariner 5513 from Wind Vintage. Mike is wearing a ’30s Movado Curviplan with a chronometer dial.

Will we ever stop collecting?

Our main topic is a discussion about whether we will stop collecting watches. The bottom line is that neither of us plans on stopping any time soon. We’ve realized there is so much more to experience with watches and all the related paraphernalia. There are always new rabbit holes to explore, and historical information is being unearthed constantly. Most of all, though, we enjoy watches and can imagine continuing the adventure.

Was waiting for the blast of music and got a voice instead. I thought, “Hang on, I thought I was getting ‘On Air’ and it turns out it’s ‘Talks’, on a Tursday?!”

Hi Guys, thank you for all the great podcasts. I am enjoying it almost every week. Just wanted to report that for whatever reason since a couple of episodes they are just not playing anymore in apple podcads player. Dunno if Apple change somethimg or not. Cheers Eike

I keep thinking I might stop. But I know I won’t. I guess we are lucky that there are great choices at every price point, so it doesn’t need to cost a small (or large) fortune, to enjoy our hobby.

After 13 years of learning about watches, I’m ready to make some actually good watch decisions. I know what kind of purchases last and don’t last in my collection. No, I’m not gonna stop. Things are just starting to get interesting.

I haven’t purchased anything this year and I don’t plan to. After about 10 years of serious collecting, I’m a little burnt out. Also, I find myself wearing the same 2-3 watches on a regular basis and don’t feel the need for the additional watches I have, let alone a new one. My plan is to go down to 4 or possibly 3 watches and just wear the hell out of them. As I get older, I find the less “stuff” I have laying around, the happier I am.

Love you guys! Love your talks! Just wanted to make a suggestion for a topic someday. Not sure how good of a podcast it would make, but I’d like to hear yalls point of view on researching watches for purchase, and maybe some ideas on where to look for information, references, etc. Especially for rarer brands from ages past

Thanks for another great show, guys. Great Euro 2024 talk to kick off the episode. The most notable thing for me so far is Hungary’s striker, a man who is over 6 feet tall, 190 pounds and looks like Travis Kelce! He’s going to kill someone out there. I agree with Balazs – England was very poor, especially compared to Germany, Spain and France

So far this year, I’ve purchased an Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow 1957, a Benrus Ultra Deep and I have a CWC special edition on the way. I don’t think I will ever stop collecting.

Proposed topic – favorite watches from the late 90s and early 2000s? I think this era is a bit overlooked.
