The record
Queenstown Lakes District Council owns and manages a CCTV network across Queenstown, Wanaka, and Arrowtown for crime prevention, regulatory enforcement, and public safety on council property. A January 2026 council tender for ongoing CCTV systems management describes a fleet of 450 Hikvision cameras that the contracted supplier must keep operational and recording around the clock.
