Face recognition

The department operates the national biometric Interoperability Hub, routing the Face Verification Service (one-to-one) and the Face Identification Service (one-to-many) between Commonwealth, state and territory agencies under the Identity Verification Services Act 2023. States and territories supply driver-licence images; the Commonwealth operates the matching infrastructure.
